A new voice banking book has been launched as a new way to bank your voice in a quick and easy way. I will always be me allows you to read the book while banking your voice. Making Communication Better Learning Hub

A new website is available to help professionals or anyone interested in people with communication support needs. There is some valuable resources including a workbook that individuals can follow to learn more about communication support needs and the strategies that might be helpful. Boardmaker in Libraries in East Lothian

Following a similar project in the City of Edinburgh, Boardmaker in Libraries is about to launch in East Lothian!

Boardmaker is software that can be used to create visual materials to support good communication, for example:

  • symbolised leaflets/posters
  • visual timetables/schedules
  • social stories and more!

You will be able to use Boardmaker for FREE with support from library staff.  Help sheets will also be available.  You will need to pay for printing and laminating your resources, however.  Come along to a launch event to see a demonstration of Boardmaker in action!

Boardmaker will be available in the following libraries:
  • Dunbar –Launch date Tuesday 28th August 1pm
  • Tranent –Launch date Wednesday 29th August 10am
  • Musselburgh –Launch date Wednesday 29th August 2pm
  • Haddington – Launch date Thursday 30th August 10am

New legislation around communication aids and support

As of Monday this week, anyone who has difficulty speaking in Scotland has the right to communication equipment & support to use it!  See http://bit.ly/2tZvAGu for more details.
