Single Message Communication Aids:
Single message communication aids, such as the Big Mack, can be recorded with single messages. They are quick and easy to record new messages on to and therefore offer versatility of use throughout the day.

Step-By-Step
The Step-By-Step

Sequenced Message Communication Aids:
These communication aids, such as the Step-by-Step, can be used to give out a series of sequential messages, such as instructions, and scaffolded conversations. These are also very quick to record, and can be used in a number of different ways throughout the day.

Mini Message Communication Aids:
These communication aids allow for the beginning of choice making for individuals. There are a variety of these devices available, and offer choice options of 2, 4, 8, 16, and 32 box grids.

These communication aids use a symbol overlay, and recorded speech, and therefore need a little more preparation time.
